Davidoff is bringing back its anniversary celebration program with a fresh twist for 2026, rolling out eleven distinct limited edition cigars to retailers and distributors around the globe. Unlike previous years where options were more restricted, the Swiss cigar manufacturer is giving participating partners three different sizes to choose from this time around.
The Davidoff Exclusive Series has become a tradition for the company, allowing select retailers and distributors marking significant milestones to pick from specially created cigars that carry the Davidoff name. While the cigars themselves may be shared among multiple locations, each retailer gets unique packaging that sets their edition apart from the others.
This year marks a departure from 2025's single-option approach. Last year, Davidoff offered just one vitola - a 5 1/2 x 55 gran robusto. For 2026, the company has expanded to three distinct formats that retailers can select based on what they think will resonate with their customers.
Three Sizes Available
The three offerings for 2026 include a Belicoso measuring 6 x 52, a Gran Toro at 5 1/2 x 58, and a Perfecto sized at 6 1/8 x 53. Each provides a different smoking experience in terms of length and ring gauge, giving retailers flexibility in choosing what fits their market.
Davidoff has kept the specific blend details under wraps but confirmed the cigars incorporate tobacco from four regions: the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and the United States. This multi-country approach to sourcing leaf has become increasingly common among premium cigar manufacturers looking to layer complexity into their products.
All eleven releases come packaged in boxes of ten cigars, a format that works for both retailers managing inventory and customers looking to purchase without committing to a full 20 or 25-count box.
Where to Find Them
The distribution of these limited releases spans continents, with allocations ranging from 300 to 1,200 boxes depending on the market size and retailer capacity.
Corona Cigar Co. in Florida secured the largest allocation with 1,200 boxes of the Belicoso format. The Florida-based retailer has been a significant player in the premium cigar market for years, and this substantial quantity reflects both their reach and customer base.
Several duty-free locations received allocations of the Gran Toro size. DFS U.S. Duty Free Stores operating at Honolulu, JFK, LAX, and San Francisco airports will carry 300 boxes. Hong Kong's duty-free shops also received 300 boxes of the same size, while the Davidoff of Geneva flagship location at Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia got an identical allocation.
Italy's market will see 400 boxes of the Gran Toro, though Davidoff didn't specify which retailers would carry them. Japan's duty-free shops received 500 boxes of the Belicoso format.
The Adriatic region - covering Albania, Croatia, and Montenegro - got 700 boxes of the Belicoso size, representing a solid commitment to markets that don't always see limited edition releases from major manufacturers.
Four retailers received the Perfecto size. Robusto's Cigar Bar & Bistro in Michigan, The Tobacco Shop of Ridgewood in New Jersey, Villa Pauli Family Club in Sweden, and Vietnam's market each secured 300 boxes of this figurado format.
The Strategy Behind Exclusives
Javier González, who serves as senior vice president and head of global marketing and innovation at Oettinger Davidoff, explained the reasoning behind these partnerships.
"The Davidoff Exclusive Editions embody our commitment to creating exceptional cigars tailored to individual markets and stories," González said. "Each of the eleven releases for 2026 showcases not only our blending expertise and craftsmanship, but also the strong relationships and shared passion that inspire these unique creations."
The program serves multiple purposes for Davidoff. It rewards long-standing retail partners celebrating anniversaries, creates excitement in local markets through limited availability, and allows the company to test different vitolas and potentially gather feedback on what formats resonate with smokers in various regions.
For retailers, these exclusives provide a marketing hook and a way to differentiate themselves from competitors. Limited edition releases typically drive foot traffic and create urgency among collectors and enthusiasts who don't want to miss out on scarce products.
The fact that some cigars may be available through multiple retailers, just with different packaging, also suggests Davidoff has found blends that work well across diverse markets while still allowing for localized branding that gives each partner a sense of uniqueness.
Release Timeline
Davidoff announced the cigars will hit shelves on January 29, 2026. This late-January release gives retailers time to promote the products and build anticipation among their customer bases while still capitalizing on the early part of the year when many cigar smokers are looking for new releases.
The timing also positions these exclusives ahead of the busy spring and summer months when outdoor smoking becomes more appealing in many markets, potentially extending the sales window before supplies run out.
With allocations ranging from 300 to 1,200 boxes and only ten cigars per box, even the largest release amounts to just 12,000 cigars. For context, major cigar releases can involve tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of cigars, making these Davidoff exclusives genuinely limited in scope.
Collectors and regular customers of these specific retailers would be wise to check with their local shop about pre-ordering or getting on waiting lists, as scarcity tends to drive quick sellouts for limited edition releases from established manufacturers like Davidoff. The combination of the Davidoff name, limited quantities, and the exclusivity factor creates a recipe for products that don't linger on shelves for long.
