<

When the world goes nuts, you wanna be ready with grub that won't quit. Stocking your bunker with foods that last forever (or darn close) is key to surviving anything from zombies to power outages. These picks are cheap, tasty, and won't turn to mush no matter how long they sit. I learned this the hard way when I got stuck in my uncle’s old fallout shelter for a weekend—thank goodness for his stash of peanut butter! Here’s 20 foods to keep you fed for the long haul.

1. Honey

Pure honey is like liquid gold—it never spoils. Bugs and bacteria can’t mess with it ‘cause it’s too sweet and acidic. Slather it on crackers or eat it straight for a quick energy hit.

2. White Rice

White rice stays good forever if you keep it dry. It’s a belly-filler that’s dirt cheap. Just don’t expect brown rice to last as long—it’s got oils that go bad.

3. Dried Beans

Beans are the ultimate survival food. They’re packed with protein and last decades in a sealed container. Cook ‘em up with some salt, and you’re golden.

4. Salt

Salt don’t care about time—it’s a mineral, so it’s good forever. Use it to season food or preserve meat if you’re feeling old-school.

5. Sugar

Like salt, sugar lasts till the cows come home. Keep it in a tight container to avoid bugs, and you’ve got sweetener for your coffee or baking.

6. Hardtack

This cracker-like bread is so tough it laughs at mold. Sailors used it back in the day, and it’s still a solid pick for your bunker.

7. Peanut Butter

Peanut butter’s a protein-packed champ that lasts years unopened. I once lived off a jar for days during a snowstorm—kept me full and happy.

8. Freeze-Dried Veggies

These crunchy veggies last 25+ years and keep their nutrients. Toss ‘em in soups or munch straight from the can for a healthy snack.

9. Instant Coffee

Coffee lovers, rejoice! Instant coffee stays good forever in a sealed pack. It’s a morale booster when you’re stuck underground.

10. Powdered Milk

Powdered milk lasts decades and gives you calcium without needing a fridge. Mix it with water for cereal or cooking.

11. Soy Sauce

Soy sauce is salty enough to fend off bacteria forever. Drizzle it on rice or beans to keep things tasty.

12. Canned Tuna

Tuna cans are good for years past their “best by” date if they’re not dented. It’s protein in a pinch, no cooking needed.

13. Dried Pasta

Pasta’s a no-brainer—cheap, filling, and lasts forever if stored right. Boil it up with some sauce, and you’re eating like a king.

14. Bouillon Cubes

These little flavor bombs last ages and turn boring water into tasty broth. Perfect for soups or sipping when food’s scarce.

15. Cornmeal

Cornmeal’s great for whipping up cornbread or polenta. It lasts forever in a sealed container, just don’t let moisture sneak in.

16. Vinegar

Vinegar’s acidic as heck, so it never goes bad. Use it for pickling, cooking, or even cleaning your bunker.

17. Oats

Rolled oats stay good for years and are super versatile. Make oatmeal, cookies, or even grind ‘em into flour.

18. Freeze-Dried Meat

This stuff’s pricey but lasts 25 years and tastes like the real deal. Add it to soups or eat it as a jerky-style snack.

19. Ramen Noodles

Ramen’s cheap, tasty, and lasts forever if you ditch the flavor packet after a few years. Stock up and thank me later.

20. Hard Candy

Hard candy’s a sweet treat that never expires. It’s a quick sugar boost and keeps your spirits up when bunker life gets rough.
